PTA Nash Farm Cookout

Choir Performances & All School Folk Dance

The choirs will sing, and everyone is invited to dance at the PTA's Nash Farm Cookout on Saturday, April 14th. 4th and 5th grade students will show off the square dances they've learned this year right after the 5th grade choir finishes singing. From 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm, I will be calling fun and easy folk dances for the whole family. The dances will be selections that I teach in the K-3 music class, and I will quickly teach the steps to each dance before we start it.

Choir Parents: Our performance uniform is the choir shirt, plain blue jeans, and sneakers that don't light up or make noise. If the weather is hot on Saturday, please feel free to send your child in shorts instead of jeans. Choir shirts have been ordered for all new choir members, and are arriving on Friday (fingers crossed)! I will send home a form with the shirts to send back with $6. As always, if this expense is a burden for your family, just send what you can. Please remind your student to practice their music in Google Classroom, and I look forward to seeing all of you in the beautiful Texas sunshine!

I am planning a Spring Concert for Tocar. We will be performing for the student body at Cannon on Monday, May 21st. Parents are welcome to attend. I would also like to schedule a performance outside school hours, especially since many parents will be taking off work to attend the GCISD Music Festival at Hawaiian Falls on Tuesday, May 22nd. Tocar parents, please click here to take a quick survey.

Please remind your choir member to sing through their music on Google Classroom a few times each week!

Career News for Mr. Lollis

I will soon complete my 10th year as the music teacher at Cannon. It has been a decade full of memorable performances, joyful work, and beautiful moments with colleagues, students, and families. As wonderful as it has been, I have decided that next year is the right time to take the next step in my professional journey.

I don't know if that will be in a teaching role, a support role, or in the business community. I do know that I will miss my daily work with students very, very much. I am so very proud of all they have accomplished, and I know that I will leave them prepared for whatever musical adventures they decide to embark upon.
